Be Alert of Spyware And Adware
Spyware and adware are a danger many people underestimate. Adware is not that dangerous because its activity is limited to constantly showing you ads but spyware is a real trouble. Spyware records your activities and extracts sensitive data like credit card numbers, passwords, etc. When it has gathered enough information about you, spyware reports all this to headquarters i.e. the person or people, who created it. All this happens stealthily and you might never learn that you have become a victim. In addition to stealing your information, spyware can drastically slow down the performance of your computer and as a result you can experience frequent crashes. Internet Explorer may also become irresponsive. The worst is that many conventional anti-virus programs are not designed to detect and remove adware and spyware. There are some anti-virus programs, such as the products of McAfee or Norton, which provide anti-adware and anti-spyware protection as well because they can scan for those pests, discover them, notify you of their presence and delete them. Does your computer crash all the time under the burden of spyware? Do you see ads, ads, ads? If you do, then you most likely have caught spyware and/or adware and it is needless to say that you should get rid of it asap. The tools, which can help you do it are all the great anti-spyware and anti-adware programs you can download from the Internet. It is up to you to decide whether you will go for a free or for a paid program but have in mind that almost always paid programs are worth the money. If you are unaware of the mechanisms of distribution of adware and spyware, you might think that since you didnt install them explicitly, you are protected. You cant be further from the truth! Many pests come hidden in free software programs and sometimes you actually agree (by downloading and installing the free program) to getting the pests as well! Well, the License Agreement does not say exactly pests but often it specifies that the software might contain third-party tools (or something as vague as that), which you also need to install. Visiting suspicious sites and clicking suspicious links are also very common ways to get adware and spyware. For heavy Internet users, a trustworthy anti-adware and anti-spyware program is a must. The main advantage of these programs is that they can help a lot to prevent getting the pests in first place. As we mentioned, even free programs are good, so you can easily get one, if you cant afford a paid solution. There are many free anti-adware and anti-spyware programs on the Net, which can help you a lot in your fight with adware and spyware. These programs can also protect you for being infected, so they are really valuable.
