Family Fun for the 21st Century: Bring In A Difference

Do you wish your child to call you a ‘cool dude!’ next time you go for family fun or outing? Then you must try to understand the family fun for the 21st century. Gone are those days of family entertainment when there was a frozen pond of ice skating in your backyard, or the swing you had for your child in the garden. Today they need more than that. Family entertainment is more vibrant in need amusement parks and great holiday spots full of family fun activities like safari, boating and skating. The latest amusement parks make a perfect hot spot for family fun. You can take your children and wife for an exhilarating experience which your family would remember.

Because of its simplicity Nintendo have seemingly created the first console that is family friendly, with people of all ages willing to pick up the remote and have a go, not just resigned to teenage bedrooms! Seen as a 21st century alternative to family board games it is a lot more fun than sitting around playing Monopoly for hours on end and in a nation where we are also facing an obesity crisis it gets people active.

The online capabilities of the Wii are not to be ignored; with built in wireless or a direct connection, it is very easy to get online. It has an internet browser as well as various other free gadgets such as news and weather channels. Obviously this is not the main purpose of internet connectivity but it offers a quick and easy way to check your emails or the latest news. You can add friends and play games such as Mariokart with them online as well as playing against gamers from all over the planet.

For that reason it’s conceivable that the Nintendo Wii should not be banded in the same group as its Sony and Microsoft counterparts. Whilst the graphics aren’t astounding, the motion-sensor technology involved is certainly not mediocre. By stepping out of line and not following the trend it has reminded us of what gaming should be about.

Another reason for its success is the diversity of Wii games available, without the constraints of a regular controller. The Wii remote can be almost anything games manufacturers can conjure up; a tennis racket, baseball bat or even a snooker cue. Also with the recent introduction of Wii Fit it adds a new practical dimension to the use of consoles. For those who were fans of previous Nintendo releases, it is also backwards compatible with all Gamecube games and its online shop offers a variety of N64 and SNES games for a relatively low price.
