How Your Layout Can Make Or Break A Conversion

By: Kaitlyn Miller

When creating your layout for your marketing campaign such as your full color business cards, the strategy is to limit your elements into three. You heard me right. There is power when you have three factors to help you communicate especially your information in your custom business cards.

According to studies, our brain tends to understand only three elements. More than that and it gets confused. It literally makes it so excited that it sends messages to the eyes to look at everything. That is why our parents and teachers, and even the media, helped us learn by way of the three’s when we were just kids. There’s the ABC, 123, Three Stooges, Three Musketeers, Three Blind Mice (see how they run).

In much the same way, your layout for your marketing tool should also apply the principle of three. And when it comes to the factors that affect your business card printing tool, the three most important are your elements, fonts, and colors.

Your elements are the objects in your ad that when grouped together make up a form that defines your print ad. Just like your body is made up of different parts, your print ad is made up of elements that sum up the whole.

On the other hand, your font or typeface gives that special look to your copy. There are so many fonts available today that you might get so excited and put all you want in your ad. Again, you have to go back to the principle of three. You should only use a maximum of three fonts in your print ad to avoid getting your clients confused. Also, the more typefaces you have, the harder it is for your target audience to read and understand your message.

The colors now are what make your ad aesthetically attractive. Again, we advice you to control yourself when applying different shades in your ad. When moved around a bit, your three colors can provide your readers with the feeling of as many colors in your ad as possible, not to mention that your message can be easily understood when applied with color.

The purpose of the principle of three is this: your print ad such as your business card printing pieces needs to get more than the attention of your target customers. Your custom business cards should be able to make them want to stay and get enough information. With three factors in your ad, you’ll not only appeal to your customers, but you also help them easily understand your message through your design and layout.
