Losing Weight the Pill Way

By: James21 Garner21

Weight loss pills – useful but are not magic bullets all by themselves

While medical science advanced significantly in ridding the world of many deadly epidemics, a new epidemic called ‘obesity’ has taken a firm stance in 21st century health problems. Obesity alone can generate a number of diseases – some of which (like heart-disease) can be extremely deadly. Obesity is an indirect effect of our ‘mechanical’ life characterized by long working hours that involve more mental than physical activities. In our urban life we are stuck to our chairs with a computer at our desk. We spend hours together sitting without any physical activities. We run after time and use a bus, car or metro to commute instead of taking a walk. We are too tired at the end of day to take a physical exercise. As a result of all these, we grow fat in our body and become obese. And then we do not want to look obese and have health problems. We do not want to lose weight the hard way either. That is when we look for short-cuts. We tend to have a easy fix by taking one or more ‘easy’ weight loss programs. Of all that are available weight loss pills are our most preferred choice.

In reality though, there is hardly any straight forward way in losing weight. The best (and the least accepted!) program remains within the therapeutic treatment of diet control and physical exercise suggested by the doctors. But for many of us these suggestions are hard to follow as they involve making unwanted sacrifices in our daily lives. We therefore look for alternatives in the popular commercials in the TV, newspapers or the internet that boast easier weight loss methods.

Weight loss programs are at large in a growing ‘weight loss industry’ that claim a market of $33-55 billion spending per year alone in the U.S. While many of these programs involve medications coupled with dietary programs, others include taking of weight loss pills without much other activity. This is where weight loss pills find their popularity. Companies manufacturing and selling weight loss pills brag about their ease of use, more reliability, cheaper price, no side effects etc. Most of the weight loss pills sold today are claimed to be made of natural ingredients like herbs or extracts. Thus they are also certified against probable side effects. With all these luring traits, weight loss pills play a dominant role in the weight loss industry being chosen by most of the people willing to lose weight dramatically.

While there are reliable side-effect-free pills available in the market, there are also weight loss pills with dangerous ingredients. They may make you lose weight overnight but they can also cause irreversible health problems that cannot be noticed shortly. It is always better to take weight loss pills with approval from your doctor. Also check to see the approval of the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) on your pill’s package. FDA approved weight loss pills are much safer to take.

However boasted of, do remember that no weight loss program or weight loss pill can become a magic bullet all by itself. If you are serious about cutting your extra weight, be prepared to cut on your meals/diets and some time to spend in jogging and exercising.
