Reinstalling MS Access to a Workstation-Error Messages

By: Celina Dsouza

A PC or a Workstation serves many purposes of saving the data and relying on them for future. The small engineering projects, architects, graphic designers and certain of the scientific and technical applications have been targeted by it.

To resolve out one or the other problems users go for the reinstallation of MS Access on their workstation, ignoring the fact that this could drag them into more critical conditions. Apart from database corruption, which needs Access Repair, they may face certain of the error messages flashing on the screen when they first time try to open the application after reinstallation. These error messages appear like:

“Couldn’t find file ‘G: \ACCESS\SYSTEM.MDA’”

Or

“Microsoft Access can’t start the data access object (DAO) and so it can’t continue.

Solution Run Setup to reinstall Microsoft Access.”

After clicking ‘OK’, another error message displays which announces:

“A system error occurred, or there isn’t enough free memory to start Microsoft Access. Close unneeded programs and try again.”

This could shake your mind as you have thought that reinstallation would now solve your previous problem but now another new problem is in front of you. The first thing that comes to your mind would you be able to recover your data which is at the border line of loss now.

The cause for the same could be any of the following:

Incorrect settings written to MSACC20.INI file.

Removal of some of the registry key settings.

The solution of the same depends on the root of it. So knowing this is the first priority:

If the incorrect settings to MSACC20.INI file have been the cause then it is recommended that you find the correct path of SYSTEM.MDA file and delete the entries that do not specify the full path in library section.

In case if it is due to some other registry key settings removal then instead selecting the reinstall option, select the removal option and then run the setup from the server.

These are the solution which requires a perfect hand of user in handling sensitive things like registry and if it is not available then the result could be a disaster in terms of database corruption. The only cure left to the user is to have access repair software. Also the databases which have got corrupted due to reinstallation of the application also demand the same remedy. The tool which performs this task is access repair software.

Stellar Phoenix Access Recovery software is the most advanced utility in this era. This access repair software scans all the corrupted mdb files and then extracts the valuable data from them. Compatibility with the different file versions of Access is not an issue with this access repair software as it runs well with Access 97, 2000, 2002/XP, 2003 and 2007.

If you have used any of the queries, forms, reports, macros, modules and different type of relations between the tables and worrying about their repair then don’t be as this access repair software can repair all of them. You can download its free demo version from the company’s website.
