Table Corruption after Referential Integrity Checks

MS Access is used to create relational databases and in these databases, integrity constraints are widely enforced in order to develop consistency between coupled tables usually by a combination of primary key or candidate key and a foreign key.

When you try to add records from one database table to another one by using an append query, you may face the following error message in MS Access:

“Microsoft Access can’t append all the records in the append query.

Microsoft Access set 0 field(s) to Null due to a type conversion failure, and it didn’t add record(s) to the table due to key violations, 0 record(s) due to lock violations, and 0 record(s) due to validation rule violations.

Do you want to run the action query anyway?

To ignore the error(s) and run the query, click Yes.

For an explanation of the causes of the violations, click Help.”

Or when you try to export the table, the following error message may be encountered:

“The Microsoft jet Database Engine could not find the Object ". Make sure the object exists and that you spelled its name correctly.”

When you click ‘ok’, another error message displays:

“An error occurred trying to export the data from table ‘tablename’. The data was not exported.”

These are the error messages which get displayed when the table you are handling

has a self join and memo fields and has a referential integrity enforced or the table is corrupted. The Access database corruption may give rise to problems of data loss as these databases provide a wide source of information and loosing any one of them could be a big disaster.

Memo fields are used to store large amount of data, so the databases which is having a referential integrity and self join adds memo fields to itself. So Microsoft has suggested to change them either to text fields or to move them to a separate table.

The key suggested requires a deep knowledge of user interface on single user computers, so handling the above solution becomes a tough task for some and the table may remain in as it is state. So it is required to get a solution which could repair their databases in either of the way.
